Insecticide sprays may be used if you feel they are safe for you and your family and pets. There are quite a few such sprays which are non toxic and can be safely used. Look at the EPA label on the spray to make sure that it can be safely used where children and pets are present.
Bed bugs are very good travelers and if any one in your family is frequently on the road, always be very careful when unpacking their things as they could be carrying in bed bugs from their travels. Putting these cases out in the sun before unpacking is a good idea.
Use spring cleaning time to air and sun all your mattresses and other furniture to ensure that you do not have bed bugs. It is only constant vigilance that will spare you the uncomfortable nights that bed bugs can bring.
